Catalog selection forms

Selecting a catalog item from another form’s context.

A selection form opens from a field or command in another form. It does not necessarily have its own menu entry: its purpose is to return the selected item to the field from which it was opened.

Selecting a value

  1. If needed, enter a value in Search or apply the available filters.
  2. Check the key columns in the selected row.
  3. Double-click the row or select it and choose Select.
  4. After returning to the original form, confirm that the required field has been filled.

Close or cancellation returns to the previous form without making a selection.

Why an item may not be available

The result can be limited by fields that have already been completed, such as organization, operation type, record state, or other conditions of the original form. Therefore, an item missing from a selection dialog is not necessarily absent from the general catalog list.

Some selection forms also allow a new item to be created. If that button is absent or unavailable, return to the relevant catalog list or contact a user with the required permissions.
