Catalogs

Working with catalogs

The main workflow for creating, editing, and using catalog items.

A catalog stores values that users select in documents and forms. Work with it from its list page or from a selection dialog opened by a field in another form.

Typical workflow

  1. Open the required catalog in the relevant BookSoft functional section.
  2. Find a record using search or filters.
  3. Select Create to add a new item, or select a row and open it for editing.
  4. Complete the required fields and save the changes.
  5. Return to the document or form where the item must be selected.

Record states

Some catalogs support marking items as inactive or deleted. Such items can be hidden from the regular list and unavailable for new selection, but this depends on the individual catalog and the conditions of the form.

Do not assume every catalog can be extended with custom items or that its items can be deleted. The available buttons and actions depend on the module configuration, record state, and your role permissions.
